The Fruitspot started in 1989 when the Ferreira Brothers identified a need for value for money fruit and vegetables with exceptional service to the Retail, Food Service and Hospitality segments of Industry. From humble beginnings in Midrand, the business has outgrown itself every 3 – 4 years.The move to a magnificent new building in Marlboro in July 2008 bears testimony to the success achieved over this period. and further growth is anticipated going forward. |

The Fruitspot, having been a family owned business, was bought by MAKRO (part of MASSMART) in January 2012.
However, the original founders will continue to manage the business and utilise their more than 60 years of combined experience to mutual advantage.
Their responsibilities are as follows:
Charles Ferreira - Group Affairs and Strategy
Johnny Ferreira - Group Procurement
Lino Ferreira - Group Sales, Marketing and Operations
